Just about made it through January

Well we've just about made it through January and it looks like it's going to end on the cold side, the way January should. I am definitely looking forward to spring, more daylight hours, and warmer weather. I know my husband and my daughter like the cold, and I'm trying not to complain, but I'm glad that January is almost behind us for another year.

I've been behind and now I missed something important

I've been behind on reading my RSS feeds. Keeping up to date with friends across the country and around the world via blogs and reading all they have to say is important to me. However I got sick, got busy with work, got lost in myself... whatever, and now I see that I am getting the news 2 weeks or more after the fact. A friend lost her husband, her best friend, and I am only now feeling that sink in. I had a suspicion a few days ago, but when an email went unanswered I brushed it off. I figured I must have misinterpreted something. Like me, my friend has more than one blog, and somehow I missed the important one, the important post that said "I lost my best friend..." If I can find a phone number tonight, I might call, but it might be best if I don't. Trying to convey a hug over the phone with a child pulling on my leg or whatever, might not convey the depth of sympathy I am feeling. I had no idea things were this bad. I thought they were just kind of "status quo". I am so sorry for your loss Arlene. I really, really am. Drink the wine, eat the chocolate, go with the flow... don't sweat these things. Enter the next chapter of your life in peace. Sorry I was so slow to get the news.

More good tv- Shatner's Raw Nerve

I'm not addicted to this show, but I do like some of the guests. I think the show tries to tease you into going online to see the "full" interview. I mean it's very obvious that the interviews are longer than 30 minutes, but they only put 30 minutes on tv. I wish I had more time to sit down and watch the longer versions online, but I don't. Now Shatner is someone you can love or hate, but these shows are interesting to watch. It took me a couple of episodes to get understand his rhythm to the show, but Shatner does the job, and does it well.

Men of a Certain Age

Men of a Certain Age

Maybe I'm getting old or something, but I actually like this tv show. I have it on my DVR to record, and I know I have to watch the episodes in sequence. I'm blowing them away after I watch them and I might regret that later  but oh well. I like how it's written, how with each episode we learn a little bit more about each of the main characters. I'm a week behind, so don't spoil it for me though. In one episode we learned that Terry smokes weed, and in another we saw Ray Romero's character react to his estranged wife having an affair. I was never a big fan of "Everybody Loves Raymond", but I like him in this. It's good stuff. I hope they keep the show going for a while.

Happy New Year!

Well I was asleep before midnight on New Years Eve. Me and the kid stayed home, while hubby went out. I called him at 10:45pm and said "Happy New Year" and fell asleep sober, with the kid curled up next to me.

On Monday morning I came into work and found that my telephone and computer had already been moved into my new cubicle. Spent the day moving my stuff and trying to get settled in. I still need some adjustments to be made, like getting my keyboard tray into the right place, but I'm getting used to it. I'm not used to all the traffic that goes by my desk, but I really like the view. It's nice to see daylight and weather changes and things like that. I am plugging into internet radio stations and things like that, headphones on, trying to tune out my coworkers chatter and all of that. It's definitely a new world over here.

Meanwhile life goes on, and I still haven't mailed out thank you notes or Christmas picture reprints or paid bills that are due. Must get busy with all of that. The tree is down at least, and we have a busy Saturday to look forward to.

Abby seems to be doing pretty well, happy, and smart as always.

And that's all I've got for now.
