Goodbye Jeffrey Amherst Bookshop

It was a great sadness that I learned this week that the Jeffrey Amherst Bookshop (in Amherst, MA) will soon be closing. This locally owned bookstore has been a landmark for many, many years and generations. The owners aren't going broke, they are just ready to retire and can't find a buyer. What a shame! I am hoping that something will come through in the last minute and the bookstore will continue, but I can tell from speaking with the owners that they aren't counting on it.

So goodbye Howard and Joy! Thank you for all your hard work, and for your many gifts to the community. You've been a wonderful support to the Jones Library and to the W.E.B. DuBois Library at Umass as well. We will miss you dearly.
